Gulliver’s Dream is a mechanical opera featuring automated marionettes, created by Roland Olbeter. All the scenography is portable, housed within a wagon, and every element of the show (video, lights, marionettes, sound, and special effects) is fully automated and controlled by a central computer. I personally designed the show control system and the hardware control and communication system.
The movement of the puppets is achieved through more than 80 servomotors and 200 pistons, while the music is pre-recorded and performed by robotic instruments.
This project was made possible through collaboration with our technological partner, Festo.
